Preview: Milby Buffs vs. Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers
The Milby Buffs will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Milby focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Milby came up short against Northbrook and fell 33-26. Milby has struggled against Northbrook recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Milby's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nayeli Medina, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Myah Guerra who scored five points along with 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Houston Math Science & Tech has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 66-19 loss at the hands of Bellaire. Houston Math Science & Tech was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.
Milby has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.
Milby won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, slipping by Houston Math Science & Tech 36-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milby since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
