Basketball Recap: Kit Carson Takes a Loss

Kit Carson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the McClave Cardinals, falling 65-27. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-17 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Kit Carson lost, don't look at Fernando Ferrales-Fierro. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and six boards. Those six rebounds gave Ferrales-Fierro a new career-high.

McClave's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Barr, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Bronniman, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points along with six assists and three steals.

Kit Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for McClave, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Kit Carson has already played their next match, a 48-39 win against Genoa-Hugo/Karval on the 15th. As for McClave, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-52 loss against Simla on the 15th.
