Softball Game Preview: Williamsville North Spartans vs. Frontier Falcons

The Williamsville North Spartans will challenge the Frontier Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Williamsville North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Williamsville North's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Lancaster. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly two runs.

Claire VanCise made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

VanCise wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Schwartz, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Frontier's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Lancaster by a score of 4-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Williamsville North and bumps their season record up to 8-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Frontier, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
