Basketball Game Preview: Dinwiddie Generals vs. Hanover Hawks

Dinwiddie hasn't had much luck against Hanover recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dinwiddie Generals will challenge the Hanover Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Dinwiddie is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Chancellor on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Dinwiddie was outmatched by Chancellor and fell 54-27. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Chargers are ranked 104th).

Hanover has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Highland Springs.

Hanover's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dinwiddie, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Dinwiddie was taken down by Hanover 74-40 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dinwiddie was down 36-16.
