Basketball Recap: Raton's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Raton proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 26) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Des Moines Demons, sneaking past 49-47. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Demons last Friday, they had to take a 41-36 defeat.

Raton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Berry led the charge by putting up eight points and six boards. Berry is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Josh Lopez was another key player, posting ten points.

Raton's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4. As for Des Moines, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Maxwell at 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Des Moines, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Clayton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
