Basketball Recap: Chief Ivan Blunka Takes a Loss

Chief Ivan Blunka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 57-26 loss at the hands of the Bristol Bay Angels. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Angels are ranked 34th).

Bristol Bay was led to victory by Olivia Harvilla and Kylah Estrada. Harvilla posted 24 points, while Estrada scored 20 points. Estrada continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ari O'Domin was another key player, putting up eight points.

Chief Ivan Blunka's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Bristol Bay, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Chief Ivan Blunka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-37 defeat against Tanalian on the 15th. As for Bristol Bay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-42 loss against Newhalen on the 15th.
