            Baseball Preview: St. Martinville Tigers vs. Rayne Wolves        
        
		
        
        
            St. Martinville hasn't had much luck against Rayne recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The St. Martinville Tigers will square off against the Rayne Wolves at 4:00  p.m. St. Martinville is coming into the  matchup hot, having won their last three games.
St. Martinville is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They blew past Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy 11-4 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded St. Martinville with their most commanding win of the  season.

 Kaden Gary made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only a  hit while striking out 11 over 5.1 innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of St. Martinville's success: when he allows at  most one  hit the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Gary was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Logan Bienvenu was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was  Ashlon Smith, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
 Rayne never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Breaux Bridge last Tuesday. They walked away with  an   11-7  win over the Tigers. The Wolves have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
 Rayne's record is now 4-2. As for St. Martinville,  the  victory  got them back to even at 3-3.
 St. Martinville couldn't quite finish off Rayne in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024 and fell  4-2. Can St. Martinville avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
