Preview: Minden Whippets vs. Broken Bow Indians

Minden is 0-9 against Broken Bow since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Minden Whippets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broken Bow Indians at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minden is ranked 33rd, while Broken Bow is ranked 31st).

After soaring to 33 points the game before, Minden faltered in their matchup on Friday. They lost to Aurora on the road by a decisive 32-6 margin.

Meanwhile, Broken Bow entered their game having already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it five. They strolled past Holdrege with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 43-19.

Eli Coble was a one-man wrecking crew for Broken Bow as he threw for 58 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Coble's longest rush was for an incredible 96 yards. Broken Bow also got a significant boost from Brice Chaplin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.

Broken Bow's victory bumped their season record to 5-1 while Minden's defeat dropped theirs to 4-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Minden have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Broken Bow struggle in that department as they've been averaging 339.2 per game.

Minden came up short against Broken Bow in their previous meeting last October, falling 27-7. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Broken Bow's Connor Wells, who rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will Minden be able to walk away with another win against Broken Bow? There's only one way to find out.
