Soccer Game Preview: West Scranton vs. Wilkes-Barre

The West Scranton Invaders will head out on the road to face off against the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

West Scranton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to seven goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Holy Cross on Monday. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over Crestwood. Mauricio Mejia had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Wilkes-Barre.

Wilkes-Barre is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those eight contests. As for West Scranton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

West Scranton suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Wilkes-Barre in their previous matchup back in August. Can the Invaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
