Oh to be a top recruit. Better yet, the top recruit in the country.

A week after Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and staff flew out on their bye week to watch him play, Antioch (Calif.) senior running back Najee Harris is scheduled to take a red-eye flight with his mom after Friday night's game to Alabama to make his official visit to the Crimson Tide.

The 6-foot-2, 226-pounder was Alabama's first 2017 recruit, committing in April of 2015. While many recruiting experts believe Harris will flip his commitment, he's never backed off of his pledge to The Tide.

Though Harris doesn't talk much about other possibilities, 247Sports actually lists USC as his favorite and Alabama, Michigan and UCLA distant second picks. When asked about what schools are his favorite, Harris' pat answer is "Antioch."

His Panthers play at cross-town rival Deer Valley (Antioch) Friday night for the Major's Cup.

Harris sported Michigan swag for a part of the week, but likely will come home wearing plenty of crimson and white.

He gave the Michigan staff an impressive glimpse last week by rushing 16 times for 268 yards and two touchdowns in a 62-25 victory over Liberty (Brentwood). He also played a little defense at safety and had his second interception of the year along with three tackles.

Harris has 1,542 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns this season and 6,714 career yards. Two weeks ago he passed former Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best of Salesian (Richmond) to become the Bay Area's all-time career rushing leader.
