Basketball Game Preview: Osceola Kowboys vs. Springstead Eagles

The Osceola Kowboys and the Springstead Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Osceola will be strutting in after a victory while Springstead will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Osceola beat East River 49-43. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Kowboys' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Falcons are ranked 212th).

Meanwhile, Springstead is still winless after their game against Weeki Wachee on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hornets. On the bright side, the 54- point performance marked the Eagles' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Osceola will have to contain Sam Franco as he made an impact in Springstead's last game. He shot 40% from the field en route to 18 points along with five boards and four steals. Franco continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Waite, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Osceola and bumps their season record up to 8-4. As for Springstead, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
