Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Wootton's Third in Last Four Outings

Wootton won the last time they faced Seneca Valley, and Chase Mitchell did his part to make sure it happened again. The Wootton Patriots strolled past the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-49 thanks in part to Mitchell, who went 6 for 11 en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Those five rebounds gave him a new career-high.

Sammy Alexandre was another key player, going 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Loss or not, Seneca Valley got some senior leadership from Jaysen Moise and Isaac Olanrewaju. Moise dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Olanrewaju went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points. Those 14 boards set a new season-high mark for Moise. Another player making a difference was Ian Bullie, who posted six points.

Wootton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Seneca Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Wootton has already played their next matchup, a 66-64 victory against Bethesda-Chevy Chase on the 16th. As for Seneca Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-41 win against Gaithersburg on the 16th.
