Baseball Recap: Hedgesville Takes Down Ranked Washington

Hedgesville faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles skirted past the Patriots 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Patriots since April 20, 2023.

Mason McGill tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cash Dunham was incredible, going 4-for-7 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Austin Manor was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one stolen base and one run.

Hedgesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Hedgesville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11-1.
