Softball Recap: Edison Tech Inventors vs. Aquinas Institute Little Irish
Edison Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-11. They came up short against the Aquinas Institute Little Irish, falling 23-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Little Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 29-0 back in April.
As for Aquinas Institute, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-5. The result was nothing new for the Little Irish, who have now won three games by 19 runs or more so far this season.
For Aquinas Institute's part, Luciana Pascarella made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Pascarella a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Aquinas Institute got a massive performance out of Lucy Scherberger, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Those two triples gave Scherberger a new career-high. Riley Madigan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Coming up, Edison Tech will venture away from home to square off against East at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Aquinas Institute, they will challenge Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Little Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
