Softball Recap: Vancleave Bulldogs vs. Wayne County War Eagles
Vancleave had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 11-17 to make it five. They fell just short of the Wayne County War Eagles by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Vancleave saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadleigh Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
As for Wayne County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-18-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Wayne County's side, Brianna Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Annah Carr, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Karson Tate was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
