Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Newman vs. Suncoast

The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will take on the Suncoast Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardinal Newman's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cardinal Newman is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Jupiter Christian on Monday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Suncoast sidestepped Santaluces for a 2-1 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Chargers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Chiefs are ranked 216th).

Cardinal Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Suncoast, their win bumped their record up to 2-7-2.

Cardinal Newman suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Suncoast in their previous meeting back in January. Can Cardinal Newman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
