Football Game Preview: Wasilla Warriors vs. Eagle River Wolves

The Wasilla Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Eagle River Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wasilla comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Wasilla is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Soldotna, who was ranked first at the time (Wasilla was ranked 17th). The Warriors had to suffer through a 58-7 loss at the hands of the Stars. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-7.

Meanwhile, Eagle River was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 31-26 to North Pole.

Wasilla will have to contain Miguel Marrero as he made an impact in Eagle River's last game. He picked up 58 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Marrero didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended two passes.

Wasilla's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Eagle River, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Wasilla was dealt a bruising 41-13 loss at the hands of Eagle River in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
