Softball Recap: Windham Whippets vs. Wheeler Lions

Windham extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-12. They lost 33-6 to the Wheeler Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in April.

As for Wheeler, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Wheeler's part, they got a massive performance out of Molly Perkins, who went 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs Perkins has posted since back in May of 2025. Olivia Trahan was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with six runs, two triples, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Windham will challenge Bolton at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.11 runs per game on average), something the Whippets will no doubt try to take advantage of. Wheeler does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
