Volleyball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Desert Ridge Jaguars, falling 3-0. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their loss to the Jaguars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Skyline saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derek Castro had 24 digs. Castro has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more digs the last four times he's played.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Desert Ridge, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-13 record.

Coming up, Skyline is taking a road trip to challenge Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Toros will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Coyotes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Desert Ridge, they will be playing at home against Williams Field at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Black Hawks a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
