Softball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Lions vs. A.J. Ellender Patriots

The Covenant Christian Academy Lions will venture away from home to take on the A.J. Ellender Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. A.J. Ellender took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Covenant Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Covenant Christian Academy challenged Terrebonne on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Tigers 13-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for A.J. Ellender's offense. They came up short against Belle Chasse on Wednesday, falling 15-0.

Covenant Christian Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for A.J. Ellender, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Everything went Covenant Christian Academy's way against A.J. Ellender in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Covenant Christian Academy made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
