Basketball Recap: Octave Houegbelo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tomas over Alvin

The Tomas Gators were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-48 to the Alvin Yellowjackets.

Tomas' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Octave Houegbelo, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 17 points and six boards. Houegbelo also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Bryce Jones was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

Tomas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Alvin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Tomas has already played their next game, a 58-32 victory against Columbia on the 4th. As for Alvin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-50 loss against Boerne on the 4th.
