Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Chula Vista Spartans
The Olympian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Chula Vista Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
With a playoff game on the line, Olympian rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past Escondido Charter with points to spare, taking the game 31-15.
The critical scores for Olympian came from Jayden Fuentes, Ceejay Clavier, and Aj Cadriel.
Meanwhile, Chula Vista stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard two weeks ago. They blew past San Ysidro 34-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Chula Vista just coasted through the last quarter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chula Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than La'Darrione Perkins, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Perkins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Paul Alvarez was another key contributor, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Olympian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Chula Vista, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Olympian ended up a good deal behind Chula Vista in their previous matchup back in September, losing 27-8. Can Olympian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
