Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Timpview Thunderbirds

For the first time this season, Cedar Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After both having extra time off, they and the Timpview Thunderbirds will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Cedar Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Cedar two weeks ago. The Aviators came up short against the Reds, falling 17-9.

Ayden Laws made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brody Blodgett also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Timpview suffered their biggest loss since May 2, 2024 last Friday. They lost 8-1 to Mountain View. The Thunderbirds have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Timpview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Weed, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Cedar Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Timpview struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cedar Valley took their victory against Timpview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Aviators repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
