Basketball Recap: Independence's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Independence won the last time they faced Copper Canyon and things went their way on Monday too. The Independence Patriots came out on top against the Copper Canyon Aztecs by a score of 62-54. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots who have now won three games in a row.

Independence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Colonna, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Colonna has scored at least a third of Independence's points. James Davis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Copper Canyon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
