Volleyball Game Preview: Danbury Hatters vs. Newtown Nighthawks

The Danbury Hatters will face off against the Newtown Nighthawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Danbury is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Danbury lost 3-0 to Norwalk on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Newtown made easy work of Amity Regional on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Newtown was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-21, 25-21.

Newtown's win came from a few key players Danbury will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dima Frunza, who had 27 assists and nine digs. Frunza is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. Eli Sullivan was another key player, getting 17 digs.

Newtown was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Newtown's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Danbury might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Newtown in their previous matchup two weeks ago.
