The Whitehall Zephyrs will head out to take on the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Whitehall has three straight wins, East Stroudsburg North has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Whitehall got the win against Allentown Central Catholic by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Zephyrs, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Laub made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Laub was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Whitehall got a big performance out of Alyssa Dunbar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Dunbar also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nya Brown, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Whitehall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg North came up short against East Stroudsburg South on Wednesday, falling 15-5.
East Stroudsburg North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Adrover, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
East Stroudsburg North's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Whitehall, their record is now 6-1.
East Stroudsburg North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Whitehall has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for East Stroudsburg North, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits. Given Whitehall's sizable advantage in that area, the Timberwolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Whitehall came out on top in a nail-biter against East Stroudsburg North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Zephyrs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
