Softball Preview: Winthrop Vikings vs. Gloucester Fishermen
Winthrop hasn't had much luck against Gloucester recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will take on the Fishermen at 5:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Winthrop came up short against Salem and fell 7-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lucy Boncore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Winthrop saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Tina Fabiano also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
