Baseball Game Preview: Miamisburg Vikings vs. Sidney Yellowjackets

The Miamisburg Vikings will challenge the Sidney Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miamisburg will be strutting in after a win while Sidney will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Miamisburg needed a bit of extra time to put away St. Xavier. They came out on top against the Bombers by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Reed Warner looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Miamisburg's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 7-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Miamisburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Craiglow, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Craiglow has posted since back in April. Another was Andrew Hoerner, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sidney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 10-4 to Versailles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since April 30th.

Sidney's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Miamisburg, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.

Miamisburg skirted past Sidney 6-5 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
