Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders vs. Broughton Capitals
The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Broughton on the road to the tune of 63-3. With Cardinal Gibbons ahead 42-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cardinal Gibbons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gannon Jones, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Braylon Peebles was in the mix too, providing Cardinal Gibbons with two touchdowns.
Cardinal Gibbons' victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 52 points. As for Broughton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Cardinal Gibbons will be playing in front of their home fans against Leesville Road at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leesville Road is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Broughton, they will head out on the road to face off against Sanderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
