Baseball Recap: Voorheesville Takes a Loss

Voorheesville and Coxsackie-Athens squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Voorheesville had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Riverhawks by a score of 3-2. The Blackbirds' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Drew Hillicoss was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Voorheesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Suits, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Voorheesville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13-1. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Voorheesville nor Coxsackie-Athens have any future games scheduled.
