Chaparral piles up the points against Ponderosa

Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Ponderosa Mustangs

The Chaparral Wolverines scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Ponderosa 64-33 on the road. That 64-33 margin sets a new team best for Chaparral this season.

Chaparral found their leader in underclassman Lauren Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Reagan Lentell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddison Neale, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Neale scored a full 33.3% of Ponderosa's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Shae Heiden was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Ponderosa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Chaparral will be playing at home against Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Chaparral is ranked 48th). As for Ponderosa, they will take on Legend at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Legend has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 592 points over their last eight matches.
