Softball Game Preview: Richford Falcons vs. Twinfield Trojans

Richford is a perfect 4-0 against Twinfield since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Richford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.

Richford will bounce into Friday's game after beating Bellows Free Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Falcons walked away with a 6-3 win over the Bullets on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Falcons' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kyrielle Deuso made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Deuso was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Richford let Erin Raymond and Jazzy Cunningham run wild. Raymond went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Cunningham went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Cunningham is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Katelyn Doe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Richford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Twinfield couldn't beat Richford two weeks ago even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fourth inning. The Trojans lost 24-12 to the Falcons. The Trojans have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Richford's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Twinfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Richford's way against Twinfield when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Richford made off with a 24-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
