Baseball Game Preview: Corvallis Spartans vs. West Albany Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Corvallis will face off against West Albany. The Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Corvallis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Corvallis had been on a seven-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but West Albany put an end to it on Wednesday. The Spartans fell 5-2 to the Bulldogs. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Andrew Street spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Axel Prechel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to doubles, as he's now hit two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

West Albany has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Corvallis, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
