Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Harper Gardner and Sean Sullivan Lead Rio Americano to Victory

Rio Americano's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Bella Vista Broncos by a score of 3-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

While Rio Americano might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Bella Vista scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20.

Leading Rio Americano to victory were Sean Sullivan and Harper Gardner. Sullivan had 17 digs and 15 kills, while Gardner had 12 kills, ten digs, and five aces. Sullivan is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least five every time he's taken the court this season. Magnus Thoreson was another key player, getting six digs and two aces.

Rio Americano's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Bella Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Rio Americano has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against West Park on the 11th. As for Bella Vista, they will host Inderkum at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bella Vista is facing Inderkum at the right time seeing as Inderkum is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
