Basketball Recap: Zumbrota-Mazeppa Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Zumbrota-Mazeppa's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Pine Island Panthers by a score of 62-54. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Panthers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 60-41 loss.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Pine Island, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars duke it out with the Lake City Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Island, they will head out to face off against Byron at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
