Softball Recap: McBain Ramblers vs. Coleman Comets

McBain extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They fell 7-4 to the Coleman Comets. The Ramblers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Comets from their previous meeting back in May of 2016.

Maddy Fancett spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Shannon Maloney was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Olivia Peterson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Coleman, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-18 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

On Coleman's side, Addison Kenyon was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Kenyon a new career-high.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coleman beat McBain by a score of 7-6 later that day.
