Softball Recap: Mt. Diablo Comes Up Short

If Mt. Diablo was riding high fresh off their 14-6 takedown of Ygnacio Valley on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Devils came up short against the Berean Christian Eagles on Tuesday, falling 14-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Leif Scallin was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Ashley Cornejo, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Mt. Diablo's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Berean Christian, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

Coming up, Mt. Diablo will face off against Las Lomas at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Berean Christian, they will challenge Miramonte at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
