Softball Recap: St. Anthony Bulldogs vs. Altamont Indians
St. Anthony had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-9 to make it four. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Altamont Indians. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
St. Anthony saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ady Rios, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Rios' first of the season.
As for Altamont, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.
On Altamont's side, not much got past Grace Lemke, who gave up just three hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep St. Anthony off the board. Lemke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony will welcome Teutopolis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Altamont, they will take on Mulberry Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
