Recap: Seymour Wildcats vs. St. Paul Catholic Falcons

After a string of three wins, the Seymour Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. The contest between Seymour and St. Paul Catholic wasn't particularly close, with Seymour falling 70-56. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Seymour in their matchups with St. Paul Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.

Seymour's loss came despite strong showings from Joey Carrafiello and Indrit Peraj. Carrafiello scored 17 points along with five steals, while Peraj scored 20 points along with three blocks and two steals. Peraj has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kooper Harmeling, who scored ten points.

Seymour struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Paul Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will take on Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Harding focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Saturday. St. Paul Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wilby at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Wilby knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully St. Paul Catholic likes a good challenge.
