Softball Game Preview: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. North Sanpete Hawks

The Mountain Crest Mustangs will head out to challenge the North Sanpete Hawks at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Mountain Crest is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Desert Hills just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Thunder, falling 16-1. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Mountain Crest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sage Walker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, North Sanpete lost 12-2 to Bear River on Friday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Sanpete's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mountain Crest, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

North Sanpete's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Crest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .481. It's a different story for North Sanpete, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Mountain Crest's hitters?

Mountain Crest suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to North Sanpete when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Mountain Crest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
