Baseball Game Preview: Breck Mustangs vs. Blake Bears

The Breck Mustangs will challenge the Blake Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Breck and Providence Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs fell just short of the Lions by a score of 11-10 on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Al Klarfeld and Koen Mehta stepped up to the plate in a big way. Klarfeld went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Mehta went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Meyer, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blake). They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over Mounds Park Academy on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Blake's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Breck, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
