It was a good run, but Abingdon unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-match winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christiansburg Blue Demons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in August.

While Abingdon ultimately came up short, they really made Christiansburg work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 26-24.

Christiansburg was led to victory by Reese Hall and Blair Self. Hall had 15 digs and four aces, while Self had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hall has posted over her last nine matchups.

Abingdon's defeat dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Christiansburg, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Abingdon will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christiansburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against William Byrd on the 6th.
