Crowned the Elite 11 winner at The Opening Friday in Beaverton, Ore., the 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback announced Monday he will be transferring to
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.).
The Ole Miss commit has played the last two seasons at
Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, La.), where he led his team two two consecutive state titles. Before Calvary Baptist, he played a season in Texas.
He'll be attending a school ranked seventh nationally in the
MaxPreps Early Contenders and one that lost five-star quarterback Malik Henry, who left the school in June. Henry, the No. 27 recruit overall according to
247Sports.com, replaced him with Patterson, the No. 5 recruit.
Henry, a Florida State commit, has not indicated what high school he may attend next fall, though he told reporters he wants to stay near his California home.
On Twitter, Patterson thanked his teachers, coaches and classmates at Calvary Baptist. … "The championships we've won together and memories will last a lifetime."
He called his opportunity at IMG one "I cannot pass up." … "Calvary is a great place and I grew so much there as a person especially spiritually. I'm constantly challenging myself and this is my next challenge. Time to work."
