Volleyball Recap: University Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with John Marshall

University faced John Marshall in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. It was the first time this season that the Hawks let down their fans at home.

University actually scored more points across those five sets (108-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 14-25, 21-25, 15-13.

Among those leading the charge was Kaylee White, who had eight digs and three assists. Those three assists gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoey Koontz, who had six digs and two aces.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5-2. As for John Marshall, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2-2.

University wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Trinity Christian on the 16th. As for John Marshall, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Parkersburg South on the 16th.
