Baseball Recap: Ellington Takes Down Griswold in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Ellington rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Griswold Wolverines a 10-0 shutout. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Ellington let Chase Thomas and Chris Beaudry run wild. Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Beaudry went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Thomas has posted since back in April. Jack Weigand was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

The victory (which was Ellington's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Griswold, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Ellington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair will be back at it again later today.
