Softball Recap: Castilleja Comes Up Short

Castilleja had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it six. They fell just short of the El Camino Colts by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by just one run.

Katherine Cheng was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Taryn Johnson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

As for El Camino, they moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

On El Camino's side, Juliana Bazlamit was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Patricia Vasquez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Castilleja is set to square off against their familiar foe South San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, El Camino will face off against rival Mercy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
