Recap: Mendenhall Tigers vs. Northeast Jones Tigers
It was a good run, but the Mendenhall Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a hard 64-50 fall against Northeast Jones. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 44 points.
Northeast Jones found their leader in underclassman Madison Evans, who scored 23 points along with three steals. The match was Evans' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Jefferson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Mendenhall's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Northeast Jones, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Mendenhall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Northeast Jones and Laurel will round out the year against one another at TBD on Thursday at. Hopefully Laurel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
