After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Faith Christian, Covington was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the West Vigo Vikings 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.
Covington not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept West Vigo between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-15, 25-15.
Despite the defeat, West Vigo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sydney Macke had 17 digs and one assist. Macke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
The win got Covington back to even at 2-2. As for West Vigo, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Coming up, Covington will welcome Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Vigo, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against South Putnam on the 27th.
