Softball Recap: Holy Redeemer Has No Trouble Against MMI Preparatory School

Holy Redeemer came out on top against MMI Preparatory School on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Royals blew past MMI Preparatory School 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Anne Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Holy Redeemer got a massive performance out of Zoe Pecuch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Katie Genovese also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Holy Redeemer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Holy Redeemer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for MMI Preparatory School, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Redeemer will host Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Royals are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for MMI Preparatory School, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Berwick at 4:15 p.m.
