Baseball Recap: Exeter Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Exeter duked it out with Verona on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 12-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cameron Brattin and K Crowe made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Brattin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Crowe pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Brattin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Crowe earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Brattin a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kason Nelson was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last nine matches. Another player making a difference was Brexton Bowman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Exeter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Verona, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
